I have the privilege of being apart of the LAS cohort of 2015. LAS, or Leader Advancement Scholars are in a honors program for leadership for students who lead in many areas serving their high schools. Those awarded Applicants go through a process of applying, and finalists compete at a competition day. This consists of an interview process, team building exercises, and an emergency plan activity. All scholarship reciepients are required to live in Barnes their Freshman year together. Leader Advancement Scholars complete a Leadership protocol, having students take classes geared towards a leadership minor. We also go to many leadership conferences, listen to speakers, complete volunteer hours, and have involvement in organizations on campus. I feel very honored to have been chosen to be apart of one of the most prestigious leadership programs in the country here at CMU.
